From "How the Pilots were Built":
Eddie Simmons - my first "big deal" I got Simmons and pitcher Chris Vineyard for Jake Gittes and Nathan Jessep. Vineyard stabilized the pitching staff for a season or two but Eddie was our leadoff man for the next seven years.
An amazing power/speed combo Simmons was a three time 30/30 man and stood 16th in HRs, 3rd in steals and 9th in Runs All Time at the time of his retirement. Eddie was a 6 time All Star (3 1st teams) who was as valuable off the field as he was on.
